Niger is currently in the process of working on its TNA. It has completed its Technology Action Plans and work is now underway to finalize its Policy Briefs.

Located in West Africa’s Sahelian zone, Niger is a landlocked country with three-fourths of its area covered by desert. The economy relies heavily on the agriculture, livestock and forestry sectors. Production in the primary sector is dominated by the agro-pastoral sector, which accounts for 37% of GNP and 80% of employment.

Climate change is expected to worsen climate risks over the next decades, with an increase in the frequency of droughts and floods. This exposure to climate risks, associated with its location as a landlocked Sahelian country, makes Niger one of the most vulnerable countries in the world and threatens food security even further.
