Partners

We work with national, regional and global partners.

The Technology Needs Assessment Project is funded by the Global Environment Facility.

The Project Implementing Agency is the UN Environment, whereas the UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre is the Executing Agency with responsibility for day-to-day management of the project.

UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre works directly with participating countries, and facilitates the TNA process through several activities. Our in-country partners play an essential role. They support the building of TNA stakeholders’ capacity and directly engage with governments and other relevant actors at local and national levels.

Regional Centers of Excellence

To create a greater awareness about technology needs of the countries at the regional level, and to enhance capacities within the region, UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre collaborates with regional centers  in each of the regions (Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Pacific.). The regional centers thus  play a substantial role in providing technical support to the in-country TNA teams.

TNA Community

Our work on technology cuts across a number of key entities which include UN bodies and other international organizations, national and regional governments, businesses, research institutions, donors and investment partners, non-governmental organizations and universities, among others.

UN Environment and UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre collaborate closely with the UNFCCC Secretariat’s technology team and the CTCN team. This cooperation will continue to increase opportunities related to technical assistance, knowledge sharing and networking activities. The two bodies of the UNFCCC Technology Mechanism, the TEC and the CTCN, serve in an advisory role to the TNA project, since both are members of the Global TNA Project Steering Committee. Also, the TNA project work closely with the CTCN in order for countries to receive support for taking their TNA results forward.

Key members of the TNA community include the following organizations.
